The First Kids in Space

        Rushing through the hallways, came Melodia with her four broken wheeled trolley, which only moved because of her pushes. Running up a floor, She went past many corridors. "I am late, I am late", she squealed like the white rabbit from Alice in wonderland.

She pushed through a large, white and sparkling door. The room was a big auditorium with many stalls and nearly empty. She looked at the time on the big Grandfather clock. "It's just half past 8!", she whispered. Melodia had just realised that she was half an hour early! She went to her stall, and took the enormous pumpkin bag and a purple box with tiny stars. Melodia opened the box and took out a small spaceship, that she had built for the project. There were some springs and screws poking out. "Filthy box, you have ruined my spaceship." She scolded. Melodia looked at the time again "8:45 already!", she moaned.

Melodia took her toolbox out of the large pumpkin bag, and started fixing the spaceship. "The fifth spring goes here, right next to the white wire" she mumbled. Once she had finished fixing the space ship, she looked at the time again, "8:50, they should be here by now" wondered Melodia.

3 minutes later, the door bursted open and in rushed the children, all of them same age as Melodia, running and catching stalls before anyone else can. "Never should have spoken earlier" she groaned. She looked at her stall and thought " My stall needs some decor". So she started picking up some newspapers and cut out pictures of famous astronauts and rockets. She cut, stuck papers together and finally made a hanger out of pictures that she took from the newspapers. She took a long piece of clothing from her pumpkin bag and put it over her stall, making it look like a roof.

Right after setting her project up, many teachers came through the stage. They all were really tall.
The tallest man came in front of the mic. “welcome everyone, I am your principal, Mr Jones. The is the annual science fair. The judges for this year are Mrs Bee, Mr Rege and Ms Mello.You all know the rules, but I shall repeat, No shouting, stealing is not allowed either, especially you Ms Felter. Kindly all of you students should be in your best behaviour.  Now I officially declare that the Science fair of 2021 - 2022  to begin!” He bellowed. And with a loud applause, everyone settled down.



At 9:00 sharp everyone started explaining about their projects, there were different projects, like water filters, soilless gardening, and even a solar powered hot dog machine, which everyone loved. 
 Melodia’s spaceship had some fans, although many people thought it was simple because it was just a spaceship standing there, doing nothing at all. But the judges seemed to be impressed. So they came over to Melodia’s stall. “ What does this spaceship do my dear?” Mrs Bee asked politely. “It can fly to my commands,” replied Melodia. 
And she clicked a small red button, the spaceship flew high in the air. “Move right!” Commanded Melodia, surprisingly the spaceship moved right. “Would you like to try?”
she asked the judges. The judges took turns telling the spaceship to move. At last Melodia told the spaceship to come down. And she took a small disc from the spaceship. “This is a video that the Stellar took” She told them. “Stellar seems like a nice name” Mr Rege complimented “Thank you sir, my little sisters thought of that name” she blushed giving all the credit to them.



After the judges took a peek at all of the projects, the Principal announced.
”Dear students, it is my pleasure to announce that the science fair is 
a big success and we are proud of your hardwork"! The winners will be announced next week” . 

All the kids including Melodia packed up, and went home feeling triumphant.
 

”Hello everyone”
 Melodia called out happily. Her twin sisters came running and hugged her!
”Did you give us credit?” Asked Phoebe 
.“And if you win will you make us a toy bear that talks for our 11th birthday?” Cried Poppy. “Yes and No” she giggled . “YES!” Screamed Phoebe “NO!” Wailed Poppy
 .”Mewy” said baby Zuri quietly. “Hewo Zuri, I know you are just 3 but call me Melly” she claimed. “Now move, I have baked your favourite, Almond pie!” Exclaimed mum. "Wow I am going to dig in" said Poppy taking her fork and knife. "wait let me cut it up and serve it to you all" told Mom quietly. She cut the pie into six uneven pieces, she gave the biggest to Melodia, and gave 1 piece for each child, and had 2 pieces for herself.

A week flew by so quickly. Melodia started her day looking at the calendar, "it's the result day!!" She shouted. The sisters came down dancing. "We should check our mailbox!" Phoebe suggested. The whole family went outside to check the mailbox. And Poppy took the small post in her hand and screamed. "It's for you Mely!!".

Melodia opened the envelope to find the print in bold ruby red.
